The Social Media Wave. The most popular marketing trend in 2012?

SmartFocus recently exhibited at Technology for Marketing & Advertising (TFM&A) at Earl’s Court 2 and what was very apparent is that professionals in the digital marketing industry can’t get enough information about Social Media! The Social Media theatre was only introduced in 2010, and yet it was by far the most popular theatre this year, being 34% over capacity!

James Medd, our Social Marketing Manager, took the opportunity to chat to a few of the visitors to find out how the Social Media Wave is affecting their marketing strategy. “Social Media continues to be a growth channel for Marketers in 2012, with more and more companies using Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to create dialogues with their customers. However, what is apparent is that with all the options, marketers are struggling to know where best to focus limited resources and how to demonstrate ROI.”

The quality of the free keynote and seminar programmes, which included speakers from companies such as Google, Microsoft and ebay, ensures TFM&A continues to be a must-attend event for digital marketing professionals.

This was my first year at TFM&A and while I was busy on the stand for most of the two days, my experience as a visitor and exhibitor was very positive. What was clear is how popular the seminar session are. My advice is to get there early as people were having to be turned away.  Alternatively, a new ‘Fast Track Experience’ ticket was available for £150 that gives you priority access to seminars – money well spent to avoid disappointment in my opinion.
